LVX 942J, Mk1 Escort RS1600, 1972 RAC Rally Winner, T-Shirt

LVX 942J is the car that Roger Clark and Tony Mason used to achieve a historic victory on the 1972 RAC Rally, the event hadn't been won by a Brit since 1959. The car was a Mk1 RS1600 and was affectionately known as "Esso Blue" because of its distinctive livery. The Escort went on to win this event a further 7 times and became one of the most successful rally cars of all time. A young Finn by the name of Henri Toivonen broke the Escort domination in 1980 driving a Talbot Sunbeam. And the year after rallying was to change forever with the introduction of 4 wheel drive and the Audi Quattro.

Our design takes classic elements from this great car brought together to make a truly unique T-shirt. Slightly quirky, this will appeal to escort fans and rally enthusiasts alike, whilst leaving others simply wondering!
